Women entrepreneurs from Mauritius are expected in Rwanda next week, for a trade and investment mission aimed at strengthening business ties between the two countries.
The three-day mission, organized by the SheTrades Mauritius Hub in partnership with the SheTrades Rwanda Hub under the Private Sector Federation (PSF), will take place in Kigali from May 18 to 20, 2026.
Around 18 women-led businesses from Mauritius are expected to participate, representing sectors such as ICT, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism, textiles, cosmetics, education, handicrafts, and agro-processing.
Organizers say the mission will help women entrepreneurs from both countries explore new markets, build partnerships, and benefit from opportunities created under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The programme will include business forums, networking events, workshops, exhibitions, and business-to-business meetings.
The official opening ceremony will be held at Park Inn by Radisson Kigali, and is expected to bring together Government officials, private sector leaders and trade representatives.
Speaking ahead of the event, Thérèse Sekamana, Chairperson of PSF Specialized Cluster, said the initiative will create opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
“African women entrepreneurs possess immense potential to transform regional trade. This collaboration creates a valuable platform for women-led businesses from Rwanda and Mauritius to build partnerships, exchange knowledge, and access new markets under AfCFTA,” she mentioned.
Organizers selected Rwanda because of its growing economy, favorable business environment, and commitment to promoting women’s economic empowerment.
Nirmala Jeetah, Director Healthcare & Life Sciences and SheTrades Mauritius Hub at the Economic Development Board Mauritius, said the mission reflects efforts to help Mauritian women entrepreneurs expand into African markets and build long-term business partnerships.
