President Kagame has officially opened the General Assembly meeting of the International Cycling Union (UCI), which is being held in Rwanda this Thursday.
This meeting is being held on the sidelines of the Cycling World Championships in Kigali, the first ever held on the African continent.
The president of the International Cycling Union, David Lappartient, appreciates the way the 2025 Cycling World Championships and the 194th UCI Congress are being held for the first time in Africa.
“I am happy that this happened here in Rwanda. This week in Kigali is special to all of us. This is a memory we will cherish forever”, he said.
David Lappartient said the 132 countries participating in the UCI General Congress express their gratitude to President Kagame and Rwanda, for their role in organizing the historic Cycling World Championships in Kigali.
“We will never forget the moments we spent in your beautiful country”, he said.
The UCI General Congress held in Kigali made history by becoming the second largest in terms of participation, with 132 countries represented, after Glasgow, Scotland in 2023, which brought together 151 countries.
